Lore

The world of The Dark Mine

Locals call it the Slumbering Mine, an 1800s coal pit that should have stayed sealed. A discreet research team went down anyway, chasing strange heat, odd pulses, and a mineral vein in the rock that did not behave like mineral.

Ten themed levels stacked into the earth. Most of the doors still mean it.

They named it Erebora, dark flora, after Erebus. Alive and inert at once. Growing, and somehow still.

The collapse

The only elevator died. The rest of the way is on foot.

The work was to understand it, then to control it. That did not last. The mine went under quarantine. Stone came down. Anyone still inside was left to the dark.

Down in the dark

What remains is ten themed levels stacked into the earth, each a knot of sublevels you walk, climb, and double back through as keys and tools open old routes.

Light is not a mood. Candles and lanterns are how you see.

A camp is a candle, a shelf, and a place to breathe.

Buried scrap, stalking things, and traps that sit quiet until you step too close. Camps can be scratched out as a place to breathe, patch up, and go down again.

Notes still talk, if you live long enough to read them.

The last four

A few of them are still on protocol. A few of them still talk.

Four of them are still moving. An AGI unit on the lowest floor, built to work the dark. An engineer two levels up, sent to keep that machine running. A field scientist in the lab. A soldier in the militarized zone.

Erebora does not stay in the vein. It eats stone, metal, and flesh, and the things that hunt you take on more of it the farther the outbreak runs. The way out is up, through the Prime Erebora, the source of the rot.

  1. Showcase video

A first look at The Dark Mine is up on YouTube: scavenging, crafting, and the climb back to the surface.

  2. Score from the depths

The Dark Mine soundtrack is on the game page: exploration themes, battle cues, and a few warmer rooms under the mountain.

  3. Survival-crafting loop

Work continues on the core loop: scavenge what the mine gives you, craft what you need, and stay alive long enough to climb.

  4. The climb to the surface

The Dark Mine is a vertical PvE adventure. The fantasy is simple: go down into the dark, then fight your way back up.

  5. Ten levels into the dark

The mine is shaped as ten themed levels stacked into the earth — each a knot of sublevels you walk, climb, and reopen with keys and tools.

  6. Light is survival

Candles and lanterns are not mood dressing in The Dark Mine. If the light goes out, you stop seeing — and the mine does not wait.
