Patch Notes (version 0.8.x)

Darkness overlay, mesh destruction, treasure maps, enemy naming, magnetized loot, and a large batch of QoL and bug fixes for The Dark Mine 0.8.x.

New Systems

  • Darkness overlay: New system to tune darkness and brightness of the game.
  • Mesh destruction: Certain breakable objects (such as crates) break apart into smaller fractures when destroyed with explosives or a sword strike.
  • Location banderolls: Top-centered banners when entering certain locations (such as safe zones).
  • Treasure maps: Collect and use rare treasure maps to reveal treasure locations.
  • Enemy naming: Enemies take on new names depending on their abilities (for example, Berserker Slime instead of Slime). Battle portrait tooltips also show the abilities an enemy has.
  • Cheat scripting: Create custom cheat commands.
  • NPC ambient walking: Some NPCs walk around within confined patterns.
  • Dialogue box: Replaces the old speech bubble. Speech bubbles remain for quips and reactions.
  • Robot service kit: The repair kit is now a three-part puzzle that must be solved to repair successfully.
  • Auto walk: Left-click a map tile to walk there automatically.

Enhanced Systems

  • Magnetized drops: Dropped items are magnetized when nearby so they collect faster.
  • Quest box: Considerably less text; quest text aims to be more to the point and useful.
  • Audio options: New game settings for music volume and SFX volume.
  • Fire burn: Fully percentage-based damage on health instead of flat damage.
  • Keys: Automatically discarded when they unlock no further doors.
